It's possible you have the font problem Try restarting your computer and manually installing the font. I've had a similar problem to this before but I could still click the area where the text usually is and could log into my account. The text was missing in the in-game chat so I had to fix it anyway
I don't remember how I fixed it but I remember googling, restarting my computer and installing the font manually. I did fix it eventually but I can't remember the specifics sorry :\
