[Guide] How to kill Kraken

Introduction:

Yoohooo! Yoohooo!
Erhm... Wait a minute.
We've been playing so long and so much this game.
What's the name of this game again?
Tales of Pirates? Pirate King? Bright Sun?
Ok. Yeah. It's a game about "pirates" that's clear.
Sorry if i differ, but since i came to EO i've seen crusaders, clerics, sharpshooters, champions, seal masters.
Let's be honest, how many voyagers? How many real sea voyagers are around?

WHERE ARE THE PIRATES?!!!

This is a game of pirates who hate the sea. Oh my...
Well, since we all are here, let's take the pirate inside you and let's conquer the wild waters in our server.

Welcome guys to a new chapter of my Astral's Guides Series.

Today we will talk about our favorite squid friend.

Lv90 Prehistoric Giant Octopus (a.k.a. Kraken)




What do we need?:

Before starting this great adventure, well, we need some ammo, otherwise the squid is gonna pwn us.

To fight Kraken we will need the following:


Ship Accelerator Lv1: makes you move faster on sea.


Ship Atomizer Lv1: makes you move faster on sea.


Ship Flamer Lv1: damages units on sea.


Ship Penetrator Lv1: damages units on sea.


Mirage Generator Lv1: makes your ship invincible for 5 seconds.


Hull Repair Lv1: recovers ships hp.


Food Generation Lv1: recovers ships fuel.

Which can be made following my Manufacturing Guide

NOTE: Actually, Ship Accelerators, Ship Atomizers and Hull Repairs can be bought in Mall NPC @Argent[2240,2790].


And, obviously, we need a ship. Any ship can be useful to kill Kraken, even a Guppy (in this case, if youre skillful enough, you will never be hit, so you can kill Kraken with this, which will be real funny XD).

But, what i'm used to do is to get this ship.

Eagle (Lv45):


Which can only be bought at Icicle Harbor.
You can aswell use White Shark from Thundoria Harbor, which at high levels deal a considerably amount of damage with the cannons, but i rather rely on my manufacturing items for the job. Besides, its HP is pretty low and leveling it to 100 is annoying. A pirate does as it wishes in the time he wishes, so no time to level up any ship! Arrrgggg!!! XDDD
But, not so fast. Actually we need this ship to be docked at Magical Ocean map. Which means, we need to go straight to Shaitan Harbor from Icicle's one. Well...
What i do, if you're too lazy to check out coords and maps is to go to Shaitan Harbor and type your actual coords in your radar. You should get some arrow like this:



The rest is heading to @Icicle[1220,630] buying your Eagle, but! make sure to place the best stats to your ship, and in the last slot place Composite Armor. This wont affect any status, but we believe it boosts your ships resistence.
And now from the harbor we just follow the yellow arrow and that should lead us to Shaitan Harbor. Buy some Accelerators and Atomizers to haste the traveling.

Actually we are not aiming to dock at Shaitan. We are aiming for an isle named Treasure Gulf, which is pretty close to Shaitan Harbor, the portal is @Shaitan[875,3755].
In here, just border the isle until you find a dock. And we are all ready.

Why did we do this?
Simple! As you know, Kraken is a sea monster. So we need a ship, and this ship need to be docked at Skeletear Isle. In fact, Skeletar Dock, Naval Dock and Treasure Gulf Dock are the same ones. So just by docking at Treasure Gulf is enough to be able to sail from either other isles.
With this we won't need to sail all the way to Skeletar Isle.

Seek and Destroy!:

Now we need to locate the squid.
Use this map.




Legend:
Red Line: are the closest way to get into Krakens room. Used those mostly in ToP to lower damage taken during the running. Will be easy in EO since gemming is easier.
Blue Line: the way to the safe zone in sea. Mostly when you want to get the kill for a full party, thats the best place to stay close to the killing spot when Kraken is about to die.
Green Line: Killing zone. I marked two dots. One close to Kraken so you can be able to see it. The other one is in case Kraken starts to chase you, so at this place you will be safe from Krakens aggression area. Also you will be safe from the two ships around.
Pink Cross: Are the Ships in the Kraken room. Avoid them as much as possible.
Pink Triangle: Kraken.

Now that we have our ship ready, the idea is basically to use an Skeletar Isle Ticket. Which can be bought @Argent[2190,2780]



Unleash The Kraken!!!:

There are so few things i can explain to you about, in fact, how to kill it. So i made a video instead.

But as always, i have some minor tips to add since i was too lazy to make sticky notes on my video.
Making it already was a real headache cuz the perfomance of my computer. (waiting for my i3 to come :O)



Things to keep on mind.

1.- A must, have your System Screen size maxed. Else... You will regret it. >=( (Seriously XD)

2.- I was pretty shocked when i realized that the animations for Mirage Generators were removed. So, how do i know when it activates? Well, in this stage, system window will be your eyes. There will always appear the message "Does not posses required item to use skill". When it pops in your system window then thats the time your item activated.

3.- Actually you won't need to count the 5s Mirage Gen longs, mostly cuz you will use Algae Entanglement. So you have until its effect is over to attack Kraken. Which is 3/4 the skill icon square. So when then cool down is at 3/4 its time to retreat.

4.- As you can see at the video, i use many different manufacturing items. Actually almost all of the sea ones. Why? Pretty simple. Your ship cannon hits less than 200dmg (if you use Eagle). And each of those items (Ship Penetrators and Impalers) hit about +600dmg. So its wise to use them instead cannons. Use as many as you can, with my computer i can barely use more than 2 due to the lag, as you could see in the vid.

5.- Probably your thinking about Black Dragon set's effect for this trip. Well, thats an option. BD effect for Voyagers doubles the time of Algae Entanglement's effect. To tell the truth, i dont like using it, cuz it messes up my timing. Most of the time i have to overwait to make sure i wont over Algae Kraken making my cast lost. But if you feel like using it, go ahead for it. BD Set is said to double Lightning Curtain damage aswell, but i did never see it. System will tell you when you activate Black Dragon Set's effect.

6.- You could notice also that i used Ship Atomizer to raid the Kraken. In this game, monsters reaction to attacks is pretty slow in ships. So you could use that in advantage. How to know when i can attack? Just keep a sharp eye on system window again. Everytime you fail your Algae Entanglement, it pops a message that informs so. So you wont get close to Kraken if that happens. Obviously! The trick is basically, shoot the atomizer and click Kraken with the Algae, then inmediatly back off. If no fail, then attack Kraken until Algae's effect is over.

7.- Its quite impossible to die by Kraken, you will have permanent healing Hull Repair. And Kraken hits around 2-3k. Even with a Lv1 Eagle, you can kill it. As you could see, i was using a Goddess Ship, and as i told you, if youre skillful enough you can kill it without getting hit.

8.- You can solo it pretty easily. Takes around 8 hours to kill it. So make a day of it. So you can do it relaxed. Like 4 sessions of 2 hours. Cuz killing it 8h straight is pretty tiring.

9.- You can use higher levels Manufacturing Items if you feel like. Your time will be less if you do so. For my kills i use Lv3 Flamers.

10.- Theres no need to taxi your seavoy. My voy in the video has no extra Constitution points besides its own. Meaning, no con pet, rings, gems. Using the normal death set and bd wing.

11.- Spirit points make no difference at sea. Lightning Curtain have set damage.

12.- Always have a good amount of Thunder Corals, you will hate having to go city to get more. Or logging out your voy to bring corals with another char, cuz it will lose the manufacturing bug.

13.- As i explained at my guide, remember to get just 1 of each manufacturing item. If, for any reason, you need to have more than 1 near the dock, maybe for another player, or in case you die and you're too lazy to go bank, you can just take an alt char there and store your manufacturing items there.

14.- If 5 players need the kill. They can use the same strategy, but assuming they are not voyagers they will miss the Algae Entanglement skill. But you can still kill it with those 5 players, by just using Mirage Generator. Just leave it at 0% and finish it with the 5 players party. Remember to log out all the voyagers that were killing Kraken. To make sure the kill goes to the 5 players party.

15.- With the tech i showed you in the video, every 1% of the Kraken's HP takes about 4-6 raids, including it's self healing (the little amount of HP recovery by inactivity, which is not too much, so dont be afraid), so you can use this info to keep track of the hits needed left to kill it at 0% so the finishing hit takes less for the non-voy players.

16.- Useful hint: to close your mini map press Alt + m.

17.- If Algae Entanglement fails, then its a turn lost? Actually no, if you used Mirage Generator for the raid, depending on how fast you can use the manufacturing items, you can have time to shoot a couple of them to Kraken before Mirage Generator's effect is over.

18.- If you are killing Kraking with a party, its useful to have some key words for fast communication. Like "up", "down", "go", "back" so they will know when they have to retreat if you were the one casting Algae Entanglement. Why this? Cuz you won't have time enought to time something like "guys, algae eff is over, lets get back now!". XD Or simply use numbers. Back in ToP we used "1" for going forward and "2" for going back.


I think this is pretty much all i had to say in this section.


Closing:

There is question that might be rounding your thoughts by now. Is this strategy effective for any Sea Boss?
The answer is no.
There are, if im not mistaken, 2 more sea bosses worth enough of killing.

- Lv75 Black Jewel (as for Story Quest)
- Lv100 Abyss Beast - Kuroo (as for accessing Abaddon 10)

Each boss' spot and aggro reaction is different. Kraken is the easiest of them. Because it spot its pretty safe.
Black Jewel's its pretty tight, so you have to be more accurated and keep more focus while killing it. It has less HP than Kraken, which makes the killing faster.
Kuroo's movement speed if higher and its aggresion area is wider. So makes it even difficult to kill it. Honestly i never killed it, so i cant give more words about him.


Well. I think i shared out everything i know about Kraken.
As you all know, Kraken kill is a must for Rebirth Quest 1. So if you guys are planing to rebirth, i hope you find this guide useful.

last time we drag that octopus to north shore, and bow it down. killed it twice with an average of 20mins total. for some reason, it can't be lured anymore.

nice..in top i killed it in 4 hours with one voy and 3 cruz...with lot of manus...but i got pissed when it dropped nothing -.-

yes disc because we all kill kraken in top for a fairy box .

Actually the bow killing techninque is linked to the place Kraken spawns. It rarely spawns a bit closer to the north. So it can be lured. Same with Kuroo happened some months ago. But its about luck. It hadnt been changed. But again, its only luck. XD
